Moving to Saipan

On July 2, 2017 I will be moving from my home of the last 26 years to take a new job in Saipan. This decision was made with a lot of prayer and thought, and I am excited for this next chapter of my life that God has for me. I will be working in the maintenance department at the Seventh-Day Adventist school, and I will also help out with the grounds needs, Auto mechanic needs, and IT needs as they arise. I thought about all the different ways to communicate with you all about my time on Saipan and since I am not a Facebook person, and I don’t want to tell my stories over and over to many different people, I thought a website would the the most efficient way to tell everyone what is happening. In the coming days and weeks I will update this with more information. Until next time.

Cooking in Saipan

Everyone thinks that their mom is the best cook. But they are all wrong. Its true. My mom is literally the best cook. Except for maybe when she cooks quinoa, I can live without that. But seriously she really knows her way around the kitchen. Especially Mexican Food. She must have some Mexican ancestors. Those of you who have known me for longer than 5 minutes know that I love Taco Bell, and if you have been reading my blog you know that my first month here I ate at Taco Bell for virtually every meal. But all that changed when I realized I couldn't afford 15 dollars a day for food at Taco Bell so after I got settled I started cooking for myself. And its largely thanks to my mom that I am able to do that. Now I have always been able to cook. As far back as I can remember I have been able to pop a frozen burrito in the microwave and have it come out near perfect. Its a skill that is hard to find these days. As time went on I needed to learn to cook more complicated dishes. Like pastas...

1000 Days

I noticed today that it has been over a year since my last blog post, so I figured it was time to post an update. A lot has happened in the last year! First of all, I moved from Saipan and accepted a job working for the Micronesia Mission office in Guam. Second and even more exciting, I have a girlfriend! We met in Tennessee this last summer and I am so thankful that she is a part of my life. There will be future posts with stories and lessons I have learned in the last year, but for this post I want to focus on my last 1000 days as a missionary. It is hard to believe that it has been just over 1000 days since I first landed in Saipan almost 3 years ago. When I hit that milestone on Monday, I thought back to my first day on the island. The people were friendly and the trees and water were beautiful. There were brightly colored flowers everywhere! The sun was shining brightly and the air was fresh, and the only thing on my mind was….. How can I get home? Oh how I wanted to leave!...
