Riddle Missions

I think my favorite place to swim in Saipan is The Grotto. Even though it is overrun with tourist, (I really get why so many people hat tourist now) its still a great place to relax and swim around. The best part about it is that it is covered by a giant rock making it kinda like a cave. The covering keeps the water nice and cool unlike most other places on the island where the water feels like hot tub water. Yesterday I went out there with my GoPro and took some pictures and video. Last Friday night I was sleeping soundly, dreaming about Mexican food or something along those lines, when suddenly I was awoken by a ringing sound. Naturally my first thought was to tell Alexa (virtual assistant from Amazon just to be clear...) to be quiet. When she didn't hear me I yelled "Alexa STOP!" when still the noise came I sat up and noticed my phone glowing, I thought there is no way its 6 am yet. When I picked up my phone I say the Principals name there calling me and thought well its 1 am so this is probably a pocket dial but just to be sure I should check. So I answered the phone and he informed me that one of the houses that the school owns had a busted water pipe near the hot water heater and I needed to go take care of it. He told me that there was smoke reported coming from the area, my first thought was oh its probably steam from the hot water heater so I wasn't too worried. So I got dressed and headed down there. On August 31 the I woke up to extreme heat and realized that the power went out at the apartment I live in. And like it usually does a few minutes later the generator kicked on so I went to flip the switch to generator power and got the AC running again. No big deal I have to reset a few clocks and stuff nothing major. I went to work the next morning and when I got back I was surprised to find the generator still running. This was strange since they normally the main CUC (Commonwealth Utilities Corporation) power is fixed by that point.  But I went on with my night fixed dinner and eventually went to bed. The next day I discovered that a transformer had gone bad and it would need to be replaced. I assumed that they would rush order the transformer and install it as soon as possible to get electricity working for the people who live here. But you know what they say when you assume... Everyone thinks that their mom is the best cook. But they are all wrong. Its true. My mom is literally the best cook. Except for maybe when she cooks quinoa, I can live without that. But seriously she really knows her way around the kitchen. Especially Mexican Food. She must have some Mexican ancestors. Those of you who have known me for longer than 5 minutes know that I love Taco Bell, and if you have been reading my blog you know that my first month here I ate at Taco Bell for virtually every meal. But all that changed when I realized I couldn't afford 15 dollars a day for food at Taco Bell so after I got settled I started cooking for myself. And its largely thanks to my mom that I am able to do that. Now I have always been able to cook. As far back as I can remember I have been able to pop a frozen burrito in the microwave and have it come out near perfect. Its a skill that is hard to find these days. As time went on I needed to learn to cook more complicated dishes. Like pastas...

Hello Everyone, Its been a while since my last blog post so I decided to do a quick one before I went to bed. I need to get in more of a routine with these things. Things are going good here. Projects keep piling up but I created a digital request form for IT and maintenance needs to make things more organized and efficient. As with anything new the staff here will have to get use to it, but in the long run, it will be a much easier system. The plans for updating the school WiFi and Internet are going great. I got our new WiFi controller hooked up last Friday and it seems to be working great. Soon as IT&E gets their act together and updates our internet connection we will have high quality high speed internet at the school. My apartment seems to be coming together and by that I mean I got my smart lights hooked up and my computer hardwired to the internet. It may seem dumb, but being able to tell Alexa to turn off and on lights and security cameras, sure beats walking around the pl...

After church today I got to relax a bit and do some gaming with Stephen. I was a bit worried about the internet connection but everything played smoothly. What a great technological age we live in. I'm writing this post from my phone in the church parking lot because I have nothing to do and home is like two minutes away and I felt I needed to prepare myself for the long trip home. Plus all I have at home is my computer, games movies... wait, what an I still doing here? Anyway I am in the church parking lot because we just got back from a hike to a place called Forbidden Island. The Islands Your group does a hike every now and then. It was a neat hike almost all downhill. Of course if you go down eventually you have to come back up.  This picture is from the half way point. It was a great day for a hike. 1. If you are pulling out of a driveway on to the main road and there is a car coming towards you about 15 feet away, go for it. You have plenty of time. 2. If you are driving and you see a bright pink Mustang stay clear, it is a tourist and they probably do t know how to drive. 3. Laundry can be done by someone else for about 4.50 and they fold it much better than you can yourself. 4. Salt water does not taste as good as salt does on food. 5. Fish will swim all around you, but if you have a camera they get away as fast as possible. 6. IT&e routers do not support 5GHz networks. Lame. 7. Tools cost alot more. Like enough where I could pay full price back home pay to ship here, add 100$ and still make a huge profit selling it for less than the stores. 8. If you plan to jump off the 40 foot cliff with your GoPro, double check that you actually pressed record.  9.
