Saipan Update

Well I guess its been a while since I posted, I just get busy with not posting I just forget that I have a website. Well last I checked I posted about my Summer vacation so there is a lot to cover. I will try to be as concise as possible. I got back to the island and was put straight back to work, there was lots to do but it was one of those situations of “where do I start” So I am ashamed to admit that not as much got done as could have. But nevertheless, things did get done. iPads were a big one that got figured out We had a big issue with students downloading images and changing settings and doing things that they are not supposed to. Well thanks to the locked down nature of Apple devices and the software they create to make things even more locked down, students can’t do anything we don’t want them to anymore. You should have seen the look on the kids faces the first time I locked an iPad on him when he was supposed to be doing something else. Kid: “Mr. Jon!!! My iPad locked!...

He's coming back.

The First Week

Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I posted so I guess I’m due. On June 1st, I flew home from Saipan to help my parents with the long awaited and much dreaded move from my childhood home to the forests of Arkansas. Being home has been a great time but I strangely found myself wanting to go back to what I now call home. I thought I was home, but as it turns out my brain seems to think that Saipan is my home now. Strange… Anyways the move was filled with many fun things, some not so fun things, lots of Taco Bell (yes, it is much better in the states) and God answering our prayers even though I had less than perfect faith. So, I will start with Wednesday when the move officially started. Or at least when it was supposed to start... Wednesday Wednesday the 13th of whatever month this is, (who keeps track on vacation) was the day we were to pick up our moving truck, a 26’ Budget truck. We dropped my dad off to pick it up and went to cancel our internet (may she rest in peace, ...

Update

Hello all who read this, I haven’t posted in a while, and since I am covering after school care, (watching the kids making sure no one dies) I decided to take a few minutes a post an update. It seems like everyone here is getting sick, that is why I am covering after school care. Please pray for the fast healing of  all of our teachers and staff that are getting sick  and please pray that no one else gets sick, specifically me. Haha. All this month is Taste of the Marianas and every Saturday night this month, the best of the best restraints, mostly the resorts come together bring their best chefs, and open a booth to sell their most popular dishes. I didn’t take many pictures but below are a few that stuck out to me. The first one is some shrimp thing I assume who’s name is Shrimpy representing Bubba Gump Shrimp, which was opened by Forrest Gump. Next to “Shrimpy” is our PR Student Missionary Kim. The second picture is of a pig who’s name escapes me, but who kindl...

Adventist World Radio

During my trip to Guam I got to tour Adventist World Radio (AWR). It was a really cool tour and I encourage anyone in Guam to check it out. After the evangelistic meetings we would visit with people, meet the church members and talk with them about what they did in Guam and what we did in Saipan. A few of the people we met worked maintenance at AWR and encouraged us to go take a tour. So Monday morning before we left we headed out to the station to check it out. One of the Maintenance workers met us there even though it was a Holiday and no one was working, he came in to give us a tour of the facility Adventist World Radio Headquarters View next to AWR While we waited for the tour to start we looked at all the pictures of past employees and found the relative of one of the SMs that is in Saipan this year. Recently AWR Guam put in a new antenna and I took a look through the book they made of what it took. It was amazing, I didn't think putting in an antenna in would...

Managaha Trip

Hello everyone, Sunday I went to Managaha which is a tiny island off the coast of Saipan. It is a big tourist spot, and the best place near Saipan for snorkeling, At least the best I have found. I got some GoPro footage you can check out below.

Guam Trip 2.0

It has been a while since I have posted, It seems like most of my posts start like that. I haven't had much desire to write anything lately and life here has become so “normal” to me that I don’t find anything that happens to be “post” worthy. I guess that will happen after nearly 9 months. I just typed that out and can’t believe I have been gone for that long. It is starting to feel like Saipan is my new home. Not quite yet though. I tried to log into my wordpress account this evening so I could write this post. Unfortunately I forgot my password, so while I wait on WordPress to reset I am using google docs to type this. I guess it really has been a while if I forgot my login info….. Before I get into the trip a few things I have been up to lately, I moved! I finally got into a place on the schools compound, which to me means, since it is a school owned building, I can renovate or remodel things I want. If i want to tear out a wall, I can do that without having to risk the bui...
